It is great to be able to say ‘welcome’ to six new members of the team as our expansion continues to cater for demand in our homes.
As we embark on the most exciting and busiest time in the business’ short history by working towards constructing more than 750 new homes across Cumbria and Lancashire, we have strengthened our workforce with new recruits to help us meet our ambitious build target.
As part of our ongoing recruitment drive, which included the acquisition of Russell Armer Homes in 2021, we have appointed six new starters, including experienced site manager Hugh Sneddon, trainee land and technical administrator Josie Scrimgour, IT manager Maciej Misiak, commercial assistant Bethany Bell, technical assistant Josh Halliwell and trainee quantity surveyor Jack Smith.
Hugh has nearly 30 years of experience in the construction industry working at some of the country’s largest house building companies.
He has been appointed as site manager at Russell Armer Homes’ Bowland Fold development in Halton, Lancaster.
Hugh said: “I am very grateful to the Genesis Homes and Russell Armer Homes teams for giving me this opportunity to help the company grow and it’s a really exciting time to join. From experience, some housebuilders can become complacent but I’ve been really impressed with the ambition shown here and I really enjoy coming into work every day.
“I’m happy to help the company with my knowledge of the industry in any way I can, and I can promise that the work will be done to the highest standards as I’m definitely not one to cut corners. I always build a house as if I was going to live in it myself, so there will be no snags or nasty surprises.”
Just starting out on his career path is 18-year-old Jack who spent two weeks at the Genesis Homes HQ in Penrith in February on work experience while studying a BTEC in Business at Carlisle College. That experience whetted his appetite further to pursue a career in construction.
He said: “I absolutely loved my time here on work experience and it made me want to go into construction even more, and I am delighted that I’m able to return to work at such a great company.
“I’m really enjoying it and getting out on site and being hands-on to combine with my studies is something I love about the role.”
It is with thanks to the support of our customers that we are in a position to create employment opportunities for local people, and it feels rewarding to be able to get people into work.
As the demand in our homes grows, our team will need to expand in line with this and we look forward to creating more job opportunities in the near future.
We are currently operational across seven developments, including our pioneering EcoGen project in Calthwaite which will see the construction of 16 homes fully powered by renewable energy – with a further three developments set to start later this year.
As we continue to make our mark, we are on the lookout for even more recruits to ensure we’re always at the top of our game.
