‘Tee’ shirt tans at our annual golf day

A huge thank you goes to all the amazing businesses and individuals who made our charity golf day a huge success.

A total of 32 golfers swung into action at Penrith Golf Club to raise money for our chosen charity of 2024, the magnificent #ANDYSMANCLUB (AMC).

The charity runs weekly sessions on Monday evenings for men across the UK to meet and talk about their mental health, with multiple venues across Cumbria. Figures released from the Office of National Statistics revealed that

Cumbria has a 50 per cent higher suicide rate than the England average, and nationally 74% of suicides involve men.

As part of Genesis Homes’ continuous drive throughout 2024 to raise as much money for #ANDYSMANCLUB, our friends and guests put their hands in their pockets while enjoying a round of golf.

After months of endless rain, we were blessed with scorching hot temperatures to add to the fun.

Congratulations to the winning team made up of Genesis Homes representatives John Blue, Scott Edwards, Oliver Thompson and Joe Abernethy. Reigning champions from 2023, Lisa Kerford’s team featuring Wayne Robinson, Warren Robinson and Ian Henderson finished runners-up.

There was a familiar Stamp to the individual prize board with Joe Stamper, of Stamper Haulage representing the BrickServices team, hitting the longest drive on the 18th hole, as well as getting nearest the pin on the 14th.

His dad, and teammate, Mike Stamper recorded the shot nearest the pin on hole four, while Marcus Dodd, of Armstrong Watson, won the prize for closest on the 10th.

While there was some great golf played, charity was the main winner and it was great that we were able to raise money and awareness for such a vital charity.

It was our pleasure to host Chris Green from Carlisle AMC and Mike Glaister from Workington AMC to explain the important work the charity does to reduce suicide in men to each group of golfers as they teed off, underlining the important message that it’s ‘okay to talk’.
