What a tremendous effort from some of our staff who went the extra mile to boost our funds for our chosen charity of the year, the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
A big thank you goes to the staff members who cycled a combined distance of 85 miles between our housing developments in a relay format to help move our fundraising total past the £2,000 mark.
After choosing the brilliant GNAAS as our charity of the year, we agreed to host a variety of fundraising events and challenges to help the organisation.
The latest challenge saw eight employees complete the energy sapping challenge, with our team of fundraisers all coming together to ride side-to-side to complete the final leg.
Our amazing team members definitely put in the extra miles to make sure the fundraising total for such a great charity has significantly grown. They certainly pushed themselves to the limit to clock up the miles, and they’ve all done so well to successfully complete what was a very challenging and draining day in the sunshine.
GNAAS is an amazing charity which provides life-saving, pre-hospital medical assistance transport via ambulance helicopters to thousands of people across the north of England each year, so to be able to show our appreciation and support to an organisation which relies on public donations is a great feeling.
We would all like to thank everyone who came out to shout encouragement to our cycling crew and to all who have donated to help us raise so much money so far. It was great to visit our housing developments and meet some of our customers who we thank for their continued support and donations on the day.
The charity cycle ride started at Genesis Homes’ Beckstones development at Rheda North Park and ended at the company’s Lonsdale Park development in Hackthorpe, with stops at Stainburn, Brigham, Wigton, Burgh-by-Sands, Cumwhinton, Armathwaite, Calthwaite and Carleton along the route.
Julie Jameson, a corporate fundraiser at GNAAS which provides air ambulance services across Cumbria, the North-East and North Yorkshire, said: “We just want to say a massive thank you and well done to everyone from Genesis Homes and Russell Armer Homes who took part in the cycle ride and raised an incredible amount of money for charity.
“We are thrilled to hear more than £2,000 has already been raised for GNAAS, and we look forward to seeing what other activities they get involved in throughout the year to support us.”
Next up in our fundraising calendar on behalf of GNAAS is a charity golf day at Penrith Golf Club on Wednesday, August 24.
Teams of four will compete in a Stableford competition with individual prizes for nearest the pin and nearest the pin up for grabs, in addition to team prizes.
As well as the sporting action, participants will also enjoy breakfast sandwiches, coffee, a barbecue and a prize-giving event at the end of the day.
Later in the year, a spectacular Bohemian-themed ball at Carlisle Racecourse on Saturday, November 19 will serve as the highlight of the fundraising activities.
