Lauren Greer from Penrith has won the trip of a lifetime after correctly guessing where CFM’s Robbie Dee had left his missing holiday tickets to New York in Genesis Homes’ ‘Eden’ show home at Brigham.
The competition, which ran for nearly two weeks, saw Robbie running around the 4-bed detached show home in an effort to find his lost tickets to New York. Listeners rang in to guess where the tickets may be hidden, with guesses including:
- Rachel from Kirkbride guessed in the master bedroom drawer;
- Toni from Workington guessed in Robbie’s suit jacket pocket;
- Jordan from Maryport guessed in the cupboard next to the extractor fan in the kitchen;
- Jess from Longtown guessed under the pillow in the master bedroom.
Lauren had been listening to Robbie’s morning show and thought she knew the answer. When a clue was given out that the tickets were somewhere in the kitchen, she rang straight away, commenting “the clue just urged me to phone as it backed my thoughts up.” Amazingly Lauren got straight through, and after a few tense minutes, Robbie announced that she had correctly guessed that the tickets were in the napkin on the dining room table (a bespoke commission by local joiner, Jonathan Taylor).
Lauren said “I’m absolutely delighted and amazed to have won the tickets for this amazing trip. I’ve only ever won a bottle of wine on a tombola! I’ve had so many lovely comments from friends and family and people coming into the pub where I work saying they heard me on the radio and how pleased they are for me. Catherine from Genesis Homes came to the pub with the tickets and brought me flowers and a bottle of fizz. It’s been such a great experience so far and that’s even before the trip!”
Lauren and her mum, hairdresser Nichola Robley, will fly to New York in an all expenses paid trip in January. The 4-day holiday includes direct return flights from Manchester, Limo airport transfers, a king size room with skyline view, Broadway tickets, 4-day sightseeing passes and a dinner cruise on the River Hudson. When asked what they are most looking forward to doing Lauren replied “Everything! Mum and I have started a list of things we want to do. We’re really excited about seeing a Broadway Show, going to Central Park and the river/dinner cruise – there’s so much we want to experience.”
Catherine Watson, Head of Brand for Genesis Homes commented “We’re thrilled for Lauren and her mum. The competition was really popular and certainly got people talking. A colleague of mine was shopping in Carlisle and wearing a Genesis Homes branded jacket and three people mentioned the competition to her! We’re looking forward to following their New York adventure on social media!”
Robbie Dee added “Congratulations Lauren and mum you are off to the big apple, the city that never sleeps – New York! Do you need anyone to carry your suitcases ? An amazing response to a fantastic competition, when you get a prize like that and the ‘power’ of radio combined it’s magical, in fact to quote the Genesis Homes motto “it just works”.
Lauren manages the the Sportsman pub at Threlked and lived in Keswick before moving to Lanzarote when she was five, until the age of 14 when she moved back to the Eden Valley. She lives in the Penrith area and has two boys; Tai is six and Cooper is five years old.
