Our Manchester City-mad Chief Executive Nicky has been celebrating a second treble this month.
Just weeks after seeing his beloved Blues add the Champions League trophy to the Premier League and FA Cup haul, his company was up for some silverware at the prestigious Cowgills North West Homebuilder Awards.
Genesis Homes scooped the main award of Homebuilder of the Year at the ceremony, making it three trophies on the night after winning the trophy for most impressive Sustainability Impact for its pioneering EcoGen pilot project alongside the gong Managing Director John Blue secured as Rising Star of the Year.
The winners of each category are put forward for the Housebuilder of the Year award – the champion of champions in essence – and Nicky said he was blown away by his team’s success.
He said: “As a Manchester City fan who supported them even when they weren’t particularly good, seeing the team win the treble and joining in with the celebrations was a moment that will always remain in my memory.
“And now to receive these three awards, particularly the Housebuilder of the Year, is incredible recognition of the hard work and high standards of each and every member of the team.
“It’s nice just to be shortlisted alongside some exceptional housebuilders who do the region extremely proud, so to come away with three trophies is pretty overwhelming.
“It’s been an incredible few years at Genesis Homes as we have invested in and grown the business on all fronts. We build each home with care and passion to ensure we deliver the best possible workmanship for our clients, and to get this amazing recognition is extremely humbling.”
The Homebuilders Awards celebrates and recognises the best SME housebuilders and developers across the North West, and we are over the moon the judges were suitably impressed with the work we carry out across Cumbria and North Lancashire.
Our EcoGen pilot in the village of Calthwaite is leading the way in sustainable housing with the construction of 16 homes fully powered by renewable energy sources, and its innovative approach to significantly reduce homeowners’ carbon emissions usage around the home while keeping residents’ energy bills to a minimum at a time of crippling price hikes earned us the Sustainability Impact of the Year Award.
Meanwhile, John was back on the stage to collect the Rising Star of the Year Award for the key role he has played in our rapid expansion, which recently earned him a promotion to the role of Managing Director.
John said: “I’m at a loss for words because you never really expect to win these types of things, but I’m so thankful and grateful to Nicky for showing so much trust and faith in me to play such a hands-on role in the business.
“We have an outstanding team made up of talented and passionate people, and all three of these awards have been earned due to their enthusiasm, diligence and desire to provide the highest level of customer service.”
Our representatives at the Manchester awards ceremony had a great night and they got to meet actor John Thomson, best known for his roles in The Full Monty and Cold Feet, who handed over the awards.
