We are absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted in two categories at this year’s in-Cumbria Business Awards.
Genesis Homes has been nominated as the Large Business of the Year while Laura Fraser has been shortlisted as Apprentice/Trainee of the Year after recently completing her traineeship in quantity surveying.
The company will go head-to-head with two other brilliant Cumbrian firms at the county’s most prestigious business awards to claim one of the most coveted titles of Large Business of the Year.
The category is open to companies which employ 50 or more members of staff, and Genesis Homes was praised for its strong recovery from Covid-19 which saw its revenue almost treble in the space of a year.
It has been a very exciting and successful year at Genesis following the acquisition of South Cumbrian house builder Russell Armer Homes in 2021, and the smooth transition of its staff to work alongside our existing team was one of the biggest accomplishments in a year of many highlights.
We have certainly made our mark in the past 12 months and the launch of our pioneering EcoGen pilot project at the Pennine View development, which will see the construction of 16 net-zero carbon emitting homes in the village of Calthwaite, has resulted in national media attention for the company.
The nomination for Laura is reward for her hard work over the years and comes just months after she qualified from Northumbria University with a first class honours degree.
Laura is an advocate for women in construction as it’s been noted that less than 15 per cent of the UK construction workforce is represented by women and 90 per cent of those roles are desk based.
She is a real asset to the Genesis Homes team and has played a crucial role in the development of the EcoGen project, as well as getting hands on at our many other ongoing developments.
We will find out whether we have been successful at the in-Cumbria awards ceremony at The Halston in Carlisle on Thursday, November 24.
As an extra treat for Genesis Homes, our Managing Director Nicky Gordon has been involved in judging the nominations in the Best Green Ethical Business category which has been a great experience to discover in more detail the great eco-friendly initiatives the county has rolled out.
The company is no stranger to the in-Cumbria Business Awards and in 2019 we were named the Best New Business of the Year and Nicky was named the Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
We wish all those nominated for an in-Cumbria Business Award the best of luck.
