Delight as Kendal awarded £13.5m fund to improve town centre

The news that the Government has awarded Kendal a grand total of £13.5m to transform its town centre has been warmly received by all in South Cumbria, including ourselves.

The funding, as part of a national levelling up campaign, will see the town’s Market Hall regenerated, the Westmorland Shopping Centre repurposed to create a new campus for Kendal College and the Market Place and Kent Street regenerated.

With our roots firmly in Kendal – we were founded there six decades ago! – we are extremely proud of the town, and we are thrilled that such a high level of investment is planned.

As ‘the gateway to the Lake District’, Kendal is a popular market town with tourists and locals alike, and the funding will help breathe new life into the town to make visiting a more pleasant experience for all involved.

The town has missed out on more than one occasion on levelling up funding, so the news is music to all our ears.

As a company creating much-needed housing throughout Cumbria, we are delighted to be constructing a total of 157 homes in Kendal at our popular Meadow Rigg development.

Located off Burneside Road, the development comprises one to four bedroom homes and provides the perfect mix of scenic countryside surroundings with the close proximity to the market town.
