THERE is a buzz around the village of Calthwaite at the minute as our EcoGen project at our Pennine View development has caught the attention of homebuyers nationwide looking to purchase a pioneering net-zero carbon emitting home. And there are many things about Calthwaite which make it such a desirable place to live, as we document below.
Stunning views of the Pennines
As the name of our EcoGen development suggests, the village’s location provides breathtaking views of the great outdoors as you can see the Pennines for miles and miles. With the Pennines located south east of Calthwaite, there are wonderful vantage points of the rolling hills – and as an extra bonus the beautiful Lake District is located close by to the south west!
Home to gorgeous, historic hall
Described as the crowning glory of the Eden Valley, the wonderful Calthwaite Hall has dominated the village’s skyline since the 1850s. The picturesque hall now operates as one of Cumbria’s most stunning wedding venues and hotels, with top class food available via the hall’s preferred partner Nosh @ The Hall.
Great amenities for the community
While Calthwaite is a small village, it is well furnished with excellent amenities which helps the community thrive. Calthwaite Primary School and First Class Kids nursery provide great education provisions for the younger residents of the area, with a Church of England church for the wider population and the excellent Globe Inn allowing the adult folk refreshing sustenance.
Ideally located for commuting
Calthwaite, as mentioned, has plenty on its doorstep for people’s everyday needs, but when you need to go further afield you don’t have to travel too far with the city of Carlisle just 14 miles away and the market town of Penrith nine miles down the road. The M6 motorway is a matter of minutes away meaning that those that need to commute for work can be on their way to most places up and down the UK with great ease.
Pioneering sustainable housing development
Call us biased (!) but the construction of 16 homes completely powered by renewable energy and managed by smart technology is certainly a huge draw for the village of Calthwaite. A sustainable housing development such as our EcoGen project is one of the largest of its kind across the UK and it’s great that we are able to offer a pioneering product to the market ahead of many in the country.
