HUNDREDS of people from across the UK have shared the comforts of a couple’s dream home.
John and Helen Coulthard have grown an Instagram following of 500 by sharing posts of their new build bungalow in the village of Burgh-by-Sands, near Carlisle, chronicling the home buyer’s journey from the construction process right through to moving in and making the house a home.
The couple had lived in an apartment in Carlisle city centre for years but started dreaming of their ‘forever home’ in a more rural location.
However, when we brought our range of luxurious ‘Dee’ bungalows on to the market at The Orchards development in Burgh-by-Sands, the Coulthards wasted no time in reserving their plot.
John, 46, the head of marketing at WCF, and Helen, 45, a senior business account specialist with The Cumberland building society, started to document the home buying process on social media – and were bowled over by the interest and interaction from strangers from across the country.
Helen said: “We decided to share our new home journey so we could keep a record of the build while interacting with people going through the same process. It’s a really friendly community online and we’ve made some really good friends as a result.
“We couldn’t believe how quickly our follower numbers grew, and it was crazy to think that so many people were interested in finding out more about our home.
“We seemed to gain a lot of followers organically and that took us by surprise, but new home building journeys are something of a niche corner on social media and everyone has been so kind about our posts.
“We love our home and we’re delighted with how stylish it looks both inside and outside, and we’re overwhelmed that so many other people agree.”
Bungalows on our developments throughout Cumbria have proved very popular with home buyers of all ages, especially as there are two options available.
The stylish two-bedroom detached Dee bungalow features a sizable lounge with French doors to the rear garden and patio area, with a good sized bedroom accompanying the master bedroom which overlooks the garden.
There is also the option of the modern three-bedroom detached Esk bungalow which features an open plan kitchen and dining area, spacious lounge area overlooking the rear garden and three bedrooms including a master bedroom with en suite shower room.
Helen said: “We didn’t really consider buying a bungalow until we saw this one, and the feeling of having so much space both inside and outside of the property was amazing.
“We really value peace and quiet, and the plot we chose was private and not overlooked at all, and that was really important to us.
“There’s just the two of us, and this will be our forever home, so we like to think we’ve future-proofed ourselves the best we can by choosing this property.
“Genesis Homes has been a great company to deal with, and we have loved the process of working with the team. We can truly say that we love our home.”
